Governor Radda Hails Rarara on Honorary Doctorate Award from European-American University
The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, today joined dignitaries at the 23rd Convocation Ceremony of the European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominican Republic of Panama, where renowned Hausa political singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu Rarara, was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree.
Rarara received the Doctor of Science in Humanitarian Service, Music, and Entertainment at the ceremony held at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The award was presented by Professor Idris Aliyu, a member of the University’s Governing Council, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.
In his remarks, Governor Radda described Rarara as a cultural icon whose contributions to music, philanthropy, grassroots politics, and national unity continue to inspire millions of Nigerians.
“I see Rarara as a phenomenon. Not only is he a legend in the music industry, but also a philanthropist who has been giving back to his community and to Katsina State at large. Beyond that, he is a grassroots politician who commands respect and has contributed greatly to our democratic victories,” the Governor said.
He further noted that the award was not just a personal achievement but a collective pride for Katsina State and Nigeria.
“This recognition is bigger than you and your family. It is for the entire people of Katsina State and Nigerians at large, because you are a defining factor in this country. Your music not only entertains, but also unites us. You deserve this honor not only from European and American universities but also from our Nigerian institutions, because of your immense contributions to the industry and nation-building,” Governor Radda added.
The Governor also congratulated Sa’in Hausa, Executive Secretary of the Local Government Pension Commission in Katsina State, who was equally honored at the event.
He praised him for his philanthropic, academic, and public service contributions, describing him as “a great son of Katsina State whose consistency in service and knowledge stands tall.”
Governor Radda commended the European-American University for recognizing distinguished Nigerians and wished the institution continued success in its global mission. He also appreciated the dignitaries present—including ministers, members of the National Assembly, the Deputy Senate President, and the APC National Chairman—for honoring the occasion despite their tight schedules.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the University’s Northern Nigeria representative, Dr. Musari Audu Isyaku, explained that Dauda Kahutu Rarara, Alhaji Ahmed Saleh Jnr., Prof. Mustapha Abdullahi Bujawa, and Prof. Tarela Boroh were all honored with doctorate degrees in recognition of their outstanding contributions to humanity.
“These honorary doctorate and professorial awards are a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence, community service, and development,” Dr. Isyaku stated.
In his response, Dr. Dauda Kahutu Rarara expressed gratitude for the recognition of his talent and humanitarian service. He dedicated the award to the people of Katsina State and Nigeria, while urging youths to embrace patience, purpose, and dedication in their pursuits.
“I am deeply grateful to the Executive Governor of Katsina State and to everyone who stood by me. This award will encourage me to expand my humanitarian services not only in Katsina State but across Nigeria,” he said.
Among those who graced the occasion were the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; the Deputy Senate President; and the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmad Alkali. They were joined by the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, alongside other principal officers of the National Assembly.
