DG KTSCHMA, Mohammed Safana, Joins High-Level Panel at National Health Financing Dialogue
The Director General of the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA), Mohammed Safana, yesterday took part as a panelist at the ongoing National Health Financing Dialogue in Abuja.
He joined other experts on a technical panel discussing State and Local Government Resource Mobilisation and Its Implications for Healthcare Financing Revenue in Nigeria.
The session brought together top stakeholders to examine how state and local governments can use financial autonomy to mobilize and allocate more domestic resources for healthcare.
Panel discussions focused on the fiscal challenges facing states and local government authorities, while also highlighting innovative financing mechanisms and new opportunities to strengthen Nigeria’s health system.
Speaking on behalf of Katsina State, DG Mohammed Safana shared key insights into the state’s health financing strategies.
He emphasized the importance of fiscal decentralization, community engagement, and strategic partnerships to improve healthcare delivery.
He also outlined KTSCHMA’s ongoing work to expand enrolment under the contributory health scheme and secure sustainable funding for primary health care.
Safana reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, to transforming healthcare in Katsina.
He praised the Governor’s visionary leadership for prioritizing inclusive reforms, widening access to essential health services, and strengthening institutions to deliver quality care to citizens.
He further assured that KTSCHMA remains focused on driving innovative health financing solutions to support Governor Radda’s goal of building a resilient, equitable, and people-centered health system across the state.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Musa Adamu Funtua, was recognized for his role in steering the state’s health agenda. His leadership in policy formulation, health system strengthening, and inter-agency collaboration continues to align Katsina’s priorities with national health financing objectives.
The dialogue was attended by the Honourable Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the Director General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and other key stakeholders and development partners committed to advancing Nigeria’s health financing reforms.
