Governor Radda Attends Maulud Nabiyyi Celebration at Muhammadu Dikko Central Mosque
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, today joined thousands of Muslim faithful for the Maulud Nabiyyi celebration at the Muhammadu Dikko Central Mosque, Katsina.
This reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding religious values, promoting harmony, and supporting events that strengthen the moral and spiritual foundation of society.
The annual gathering commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and serves as a period of reflection, prayers, and unity for the Muslim ummah.
The event, led by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Imam Gambo Mustapha, was graced by renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Mai Ashafa, from Kano State. The sermon and activities drew wide participation from Katsina and neighboring states, underscoring the deep spiritual significance of the occasion.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Ishaq Shehu Dabai, described the Maulud as a reminder of the Prophet’s exemplary life and teachings.
He explained that the celebration has, over the years, provided Muslims with the opportunity to renew their devotion, strengthen their faith, and reinforce bonds of brotherhood across communities.
The ceremony featured Qur’anic recitations and devotional readings extolling the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Commissioner stressed that such gatherings help to instill values of patience, humility, honesty, and justice—principles that defined the Prophet’s life—while also reminding Muslims of the importance of compassion, prayer, and unity.
Delivering his sermon, Sheikh Ibrahim Mai Ashafa reflected on the role of prayer in leadership, reminding the congregation that no leader can succeed without Allah’s blessings. He drew lessons from history to emphasize that true success in governance comes when leaders are supported by the sincere prayers of their people.
The visiting scholar prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Governor Radda wisdom, courage, and sincerity in discharging his responsibilities.
He further urged members of the Governor’s administration to remain steadfast in their support so that the Governor’s vision for the state could be fully achieved.
In his closing remarks, Sheikh Mai Ashafa called for sustained prayers for peace, stability, and unity not only in Katsina State but across Nigeria and beyond.
He encouraged Muslims to hold firmly to brotherhood and to continue seeking divine intervention in national affairs.
The gathering ended with a renewed spirit of faith, as participants offered heartfelt prayers for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Katsina State, as well as for the wellbeing of Governor Radda and the people he leads.
The event attracted Muslim clerics, Imams, community leaders, and top government officials, alongside worshippers from across Katsina and neighboring states, all coming together in unity to honor the life and legacy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
